Terrific, Marty. Napata, the singer who I was with in my 20’s and 30’s was from Chicago. She had talent and grew up in the 60’s and knew a lot of other folks with talent. She had a minor hit produced by Jerry Butler wen she was 16, and sang backup for Jackie Wilson. She tells a terrific story about having a gig in a Chicago nightclub and noticing a little boy sleeping in a couch backstage, and wondering, “why couldn’t his mother get a babysitter?”. Then she dramatically recalls his jumping up and hitting the stage and doing a James Brown inspired song while singing and dancing his ass off. She’s was blown away, and has never tired of telling that story.
